Author Visits

Glenda Goertzen has presented to readers of all ages in schools, libraries and conferences across Canada. She takes bookings year round.

School and Library Visits

Glenda offers dynamic sessions for all age groups but most often for students in grades 2-6. With younger students, she focusses on plot and characterization. With older students and adults, she places emphasis on the creative and publication process. With all audiences, she shares the joy of reading and creating. Her humorous, multi-media presentations balance short readings with discussion and an audience Q&A session.

Glenda Goertzen is a member of the Canadian Society of Children's Authors, Illustrators and Performers (CANSCAIP). Click here for more information about hosting a CANSCAIP presenter at your school or library.

Book Sales

Schools and libraries may preorder books from the list below. Glenda will also bring copies of her own for purchase. After the session she will sign books, bookmarks and illustrations, but not pieces of paper, shirts, hands, etc.

Children's books by Canadian authors are difficult to come by, particularly in small communities. Rarely will you find books by a visiting author in your local bookstore. Please keep this in mind when deciding whether to send an author's book order forms home with students. Owning a signed copy not only increases a student's interest in books, it allows the author to keep writing them!

Fees

For readings in Saskatchewan Glenda charges $250 for a 45-60 minute presentation, $400 for a half day (2 readings in the morning or 2 readings in the afternoon) plus meals, accomodations and mileage ($0.40/km). Discounts are offered for multiple readings at schools within the same school division. She is registered with the Saskatchewan Writers Guild Readings Program, which pays a portion of the reading fee plus mileage for schools and libraries who apply to host a Saskatchewan author. You may apply online but please contact Glenda first to confirm her availability.
