Some of the characters in The Prairie Dogs were inspired by these dogs I have known and loved...
A tiny Chihuahua/Pekinese cross. He liked to sleep in a frisbee with my sock as a pillow.
A terrier cross who's mother's name was Juju. Trisha was a friend of a pack of little stray dogs who liked to escort us when we went for walks.
Maverick, the tree-climbing dog. Maverick was a terrific jumper and his escape from a kennel at the SPCA inspired one of the scenes in The Prairie Dogs.
My office while I was writing the novel (actually a corner of my bedroom). On the wall are sketches I drew of Pierre and his friends to inspire me while I wrote. Click here to see close ups of some of those sketches.
